Open Championship Courses

Turnberry, Troon, Muirfield, the Old. Walk where the Claret Jug has been lifted.

Overview

Every course on this itinerary has hosted The Open Championship. Turnberry, Royal Troon, Muirfield, St Andrews Old Course. Seven days of golf at venues that carry the full weight of the game’s history. This is the itinerary for the group that wants to say they’ve played all of them.

Day 1: Arrival & Turnberry

Fly into Glasgow. Drive south to the Ayrshire coast. Ailsa at Turnberry is one of the great links experiences — the lighthouse, Ailsa Craig in the bay, and a course that hosted the 1977 “Duel in the Sun” between Watson and Nicklaus.

Day 2: Royal Troon

The Old Course at Troon has hosted nine Opens. The Postage Stamp — the 8th hole — is 123 yards. It is the shortest hole in Open Championship golf and one of the most treacherous.

Day 3: Travel to Edinburgh

Cross Scotland. Edinburgh for two nights — the castle, the food, the good whisky.

Day 4: Muirfield

The Honourable Company. Sixteen Opens. A course that demands every club in the bag and rewards nothing less than complete commitment.

Day 5: North Berwick

A rest from severity. North Berwick is charming, historic, and full of the quirkiness that makes links golf unique.

Day 6: St Andrews Old Course

The last day. The Old Course. Lyons Links guarantees tee times through our Authorised Provider status. Walk over the Swilcan Bridge. Play the Road Hole. Finish at 18.

Day 7: Departure

Edinburgh airport. The flight home. Already thinking about coming back.
