Northwest Ireland · Part II

Add St Patrick's, Narin & Portnoo, Ballyliffin. Seven days of the underrated coast.

Overview

The extended version of the northwest circuit adds three more days and three more courses — including St Patrick’s Links at Carrigart, which opened in 2023 and immediately became one of the talking points of Irish golf. Seven days of the least visited, most rewarding coastline in the country.

Day 1: Arrival & Enniscrone

Start where the northwest begins — big dunes, open sky, and a links that sets the standard for the days ahead.

Day 2: County Sligo (Rosses Point)

Benbulben on the horizon, Coney Island in the bay. One of the great settings in Irish golf.

Day 3: Donegal Golf Club (Murvagh)

Peninsula links. Remote and exceptional.

Day 4: Narin & Portnoo

A hidden gem on the Donegal coast. Members’ clubs like this one don’t advertise — that’s part of the appeal.

Day 5: St Patrick’s Links, Carrigart

Ireland’s newest top links. Designed with the landscape — cliffs, dunes, and one of the great new courses in Europe. Worth the trip on its own.

Day 6: Ballyliffin

Glashedy Links hosted the Irish Open in 2018. The Old Links beside it is the one locals play. Both are extraordinary.

Day 7: Departure

A long drive south or a short flight from Donegal Airport. Either way — you’ll be back.
