West of Ireland

Carne, Connemara, Lahinch. Mayo and Clare at their best.

Overview

The west of Ireland circuit takes in the wildest links in Mayo, the Atlantic-edged course at Connemara, and the famous Lahinch in Clare. Five days. Remote roads. Golf the way it was meant to be played.

Day 1: Arrival & Carne Golf Links

Fly into Knock. Drive to Belmullet. Carne is one of the last truly wild links in Ireland — built into the dunes at Erris Head, with views out to the Stags of Broadhaven. Few visitors, perfect conditions.

Day 2: Enniscrone

South down the coast to Enniscrone. One of the great underrated links in Ireland — towering sandhills, natural greens, and a warmth of welcome that is hard to match.

Day 3: Connemara Golf Club

Drive south to Clifden. Connemara is a links at altitude — the mountains of Connemara behind you, the Atlantic ahead. A course that looks impossible to build and plays like a dream.

Day 4: Lahinch Golf Club

Cross into Clare. Lahinch is the one everyone has heard of, and the one that still surprises. The Old Course here has barely changed since Alister MacKenzie touched it in 1928.

Day 5: Departure

Shannon airport is 40 minutes from Lahinch. A final coffee in Lahinch village, then home.
